DCS Grills CLICK-NO-IGN Error: Igniter clicks, no flame
The dcs grills error code click-no-ign indicates Igniter clicks, no flame. This guide covers symptoms, diagnostic steps, and repair options. Why Your DCS Grill Clicks But Won’t Light When you can hear and see the spark but the flame refuses to catch, the problem is almost always one of three things: moisture on the electrode, […]

Answer to continue safely
Is it safe to keep using?
Maybe. A manual long-reach lighter can be used as a temporary workaround while diagnosing, but do not allow gas to accumulate before attempting to light. Resolve the ignition issue before unattended or frequent use.
Can I reset the code?
No. No reset procedure applies — the physical cause (moisture, gap, or blockage) must be corrected directly.
When to stop immediately?
Stop if you notice: Strong gas odor develops before ignition is achieved, Electrode tip shows visible cracking or ceramic damage.
Symptoms You May Notice
Audible clicking and visible spark without flame
The spark is clearly present at the igniter tip when the knob is clicked, but the burner gas does not catch and hold a flame.
Burner lights only after many attempts
The grill may eventually light after 10 or more click cycles, suggesting inconsistent gas flow or spark position rather than complete igniter failure.
One burner fails while adjacent ones light normally
Specific burners have no-light issues while neighboring burners on the same grill ignite reliably.
Flame appears and extinguishes immediately
A brief flash of flame is visible for less than a second when the knob is clicked, but it does not sustain.
Possible Causes
Spark gap too wide or electrode misaligned
The ceramic electrode tip must be positioned within 3–4mm of the burner surface. If it has been bent or shifted, the spark cannot reliably ignite the gas stream.
DIY PossibleMoisture on electrode or burner ports
After rain, heavy dew, or cleaning, moisture can prevent gas from igniting even when the spark is present.
DIY PossibleClogged burner ports near igniter
If the burner ports immediately adjacent to the electrode are blocked, no gas is present at the spark location even though the burner knob is open.
DIY PossibleSafe Checks You Can Do
-
1
Dry the electrode and surrounding area
Use a dry cloth and allow the grill to sit in sun or warm air for 30 minutes. If the grill was recently rained on or cleaned, moisture on the electrode is the most likely culprit.
A hair dryer on low heat aimed at the electrode area for 60 seconds is very effective at eliminating ignition-blocking moisture.
-
2
Check electrode gap and alignment
With gas off, visually inspect the igniter electrode tip above each burner. It should point toward the burner tube surface with a gap of roughly 3–4mm. Gently straighten a bent electrode with needle-nose pliers if needed.
Do not touch the ceramic portion of the electrode — oil from your fingers reduces its effectiveness.
Tools required -
3
Clear ports near the electrode
Use a paper clip to clear the 2–3 burner ports immediately next to the igniter electrode position. Even partial blockage here prevents gas from reaching the spark.
Gas flows through the ports in sequence — if the ports at the electrode end are blocked, the spark fires into empty air.
When to Call a Professional
Contact a qualified technician if:
- Electrode gap correction does not resolve the no-light condition
- Burner ports are clear but ignition remains inconsistent
- Gas valve output suspected to be insufficient at that burner position
